Ivar Thorson has been busy fabricating a Lynxmotion Hexopod II imitation out of carbon fiber sheets. Every aspect of the design and machining process is explained. Excellent work Ivar. One day, you have to BEAMize it for comparison.

Bram's web site has been updated and the walker manual has been revised.

BEAMCentral has been renamed BEAM Online. Ian has added lots of new content including tutorials on servo modifications, removing pager weights and building an SOV head (soon).

After talking to Dave, we agreed that after "10" MicroVore contestants post their images on-line, he would donate a Miniball kit valued at $160 for top prize. The Walker kit with two BG Micro lense motors, all the electronics and neccessary frame construction materials will be awarded to the second place contestant. As of today, 15 people have entered...now lets get those images up! If you still haven't entered, what the **** are you waiting for (excuse my french)?

Jade Mountain has a selection of solar cells with excellent power output but higher cost. They also have tonnes of other cool solar energy related stuff. Thanks to Ian for finding this one.

The judge list for My Microvore contest has been agreed on. Drum roll please... The three judges are Mark Tilden, Dave Hrynkiw and me!!! Please do not e-mail any of the judges for advice on building your MicroVore.

Sounds like a good idea to me:

Plastecs Company has various solarcells for sale. I think Solarbotics cells have a better power to size ratio at a lower cost. Might be worth looking into though.
