I'm now on vacation. Good news...My e-mail will stay the same and I'll try to keep the BEAM news section going. Bad news...I didn't get the pictures for my 5 motor walker page on time. Sorry. =(

My photovore page is "finally" done.

1000 visitors in 20 days!!! I'd like to thank all of you.

Another BEAM page fresh off the press. Ron Pereira has a great RealPlayer movie clip of his walker.

First reader's photovore posted. Thanx Darrell! Send your's in too!

The overwhelming response to the voting section is great. I'll have Walker Ver5.2 pages up ASAP. Voting is now closed.

New Sunceram solar cell data at Solarbotics and a new Downloads section full of Dave's great manuals. Looks like supply is falling behind demand...need any help Dave? ;-)

I'm going away for the summer so I only have time to do one more section. What would you like to see?

Looking for those great little gearmotors I use in my walkers? BGmicro just got more of them.

Here's a couple sites with great deals on pagermotors:
Accesorize
Surplus Traders

I've started archiving important e-mails off the BEAM list on my Influential E-mails page.

June 10, 1998
The BEAM Heretics bulletin board is open for discussion about all aspects of BEAM...positive and some negative.

How to Construct a Photovore page is updated.

June 9, 1998
Beamcentral has added a page on constructing the omni-directional feeler switch.

June 8, 1998
The Magbot Sundancer kit from Solarbotics is temporarily sold out due to problems with the PCB manufacturer. Time to buy some Major Henry coils and design a new magbot...how bout a Photo Hopper-Popper.

My How to Construct a Photovore page is coming along quite nicely.

More info on those gear motors. Catalog # = 420-0515. Mendelson's phone number is 1-800-344-4465. I still can't find them on Mendelson's web-page.

One of Tilden's newest walkers. Looks like a beaut.

Dennison has shared his source for some surplus gearmotors at Mendelson Electronics. I haven't been able to find them... but I haven't looked very hard.

If your interested in a Hextile printed circuit board group buy, contact Dennison.

If your interested in gearboxes for pager motors contact David Winchell.

Dan Larson is trying to organize a solar cell group buy. If your interested or have a good source, drop him a line.

My...look what you've started Mr. Winchell! =)

Solarbotics has a new kit out and it looks like a winner. The MiniBall 1.0 is a limited edition kit fresh off the assembly line. You can even download the Beta release of the manual...a surprising treat from Dave.

Want another manual? Go to Solarbotics and get the solarengine pdf file. The actual circuit is old and obsolete but it's still a worth while read.

Terry Newton has added a page on various experimental techniques to create an intelligent walker. Very informative and on the cutting-edge of BEAM research.

Here's a pge chalk full of pics from the 1998 BEAM Robotic Workshop. I wish I could have attended...looks like it was a blast. There is a sneak preview of a four-motor walker kit that might make it to production via Solarbotics.

Ivar Thorson's beam-page has moved.

Paul Beckingham has added some photos of a tiny solar-engine on the Photovore 10 page. Paul is the free-form guru =).

A.A. van Zoelen (or can I call you Bram? =) has put together a step by step, how to build a walker page. There is also a very good beginners guide to electronic components specific to BEAM at the bottom of this page.

MondoTronics RobotStore has begun selling some of Dave's kits. Of course they've added a mark-up. Go to the What's New section.

The nervous net FAQ has had an overhaul. A section has been added on NU neurons from an e-mail posted by Richard Weait.

Looking for a better solar engine? The Sun-Eater series by Steven Bolt are very efficient and very repeatable.

Steven has also made an extremely small photovore called Son of Photovore. It has surface mount components and wrist watch motors.

Scott has added a new bot, Jiminy, to his page. It's a souped up Photopopper 4.2.
